Many of the new releases are hitting the market, but some key wines to keep an eye out for...
Opus One, new vintage has already received 96-100 points by Robert Parker. We will have access to only to 42 bottles, and 24 are already ear-marked for one buyer. Price runs up over the $200/bottle, so it's not for everyone, but definitely a great bottle for a select few.
Charles Woodson wines are always a fun addition to the wine fridge. Both the Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc are great once-a-week bottles.
There are a few places you have to try, if you haven't yet. We are fortunate to live in the food and wine Mecca, so sometimes we miss the changes, upgrades and sleepers that go under the radar. A couple to consider are Goosecross, Elyse and Hill Family. All of which are great tasting opportunities.
So the renovated Goosecross Winery off State Lane is unbelievable the view. If you don't go to try the wines and check out the back deck you are missing a beautiful Yountville experience. Their facility completed a great renovation and it shows with the tasting room and winemaking crew. They have a great selection of wines from Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and more whites to ample reds. All the while taking in the breath-taking view.
Elyse has been one of my favorites for years. Its a house turned into a winery, but if you like bold wines, you must try Ray Coursen' concoctions. Petit Sirah, Zinfandel, Cabernet and many blends. You will be scho...
This weekend Yountville was packed with people of all everythings. Amazing to see how many people frequent our little town. Understandable that people frequent Yountville because what is not to love. Amazing food, wine, places to stay, all in walking distance with one another.
We are now proud to offer Woodhouse chocolates in our chocolate and confection section. Okay, so you might think $8 for a chocolate bar is crazy. What is crazy, is how good this chocolate is, and I don't usually eat much chocolate. Ranch Market now offers a nice variety of the Woodhouse chocolate line. Trust me, if you haven't tried them, you are missing out.
Wines were a big hit this weekend for obvious reasons. Still love that I saw Paradigm Cabernet, Far Niente Chardonnay and many more moving this weekend.
So if wine and chocolate are not enough in between dinner at Hurley's, Redd, Bottega, Bouchon, Bistro Jeanty, Ciccio or the many other awesome spots in town, then I don't know w...
I worked nights at Ranch Market Yountville and wanted to get shirts for the staff saying...Corner of Creek and Washington. Person after person would come in and ask for directions because they couldn't find it. So let me start with a belated appreciation to Thomas for putting up a sign some years back as it made our lives easier. After 19 years of living and working in Yountville, Napa Valley my wife and I made the trek to the culinary Mecca with friends.
So when I hear about the review of Per Se in New York a few weeks back I am reminded of the movie "Chef". It is always great to target the top, and to be honest competition is what makes us work harder. That being said, something can be nitpicked for any minutia.
Here was our experience...
We arrived to an extremely friendly hostess that knew all our names upon walking in the door. We were immediately seated and the bubbles began to flow. I figured, if we are going to do this, then lets do it right. We had the tast...
I get calls from friends all the time coming to the Napa Valley. Most of the time they are looking to crash at my house for a free Napa B&B. Sorry can't help you on that one, but even more of the time friends have someone they know coming to the valley and want them to call me to see where they should go. There are a few questions you should know in order to best customize your trip here.
First, how much are you comfortable spending on a bottle of wine.
Second, do you prefer red or white wines and specifically a certain varietal.
Next, what do you usually drink.
Last, Special requests?
The price of the bottle you are comfortable is extremely important as you probably wont enjoy an $80 Napa Cabernet from Oakville or the Stags Leap District if you primarily drink wines below $10. At the same time, if your wife or significant other loves bubbles, but you don't hit a winery that serves sparkling you could be missing that special something. What you usually drink is also important...
Excited to finally get the new website launched. Thanks to Evan Bailyn and Vistage for getting me to update our site. Lots of work still to come, but very excited to jump in.

I went to the SF Specialty Food Show yesterday at Moscone Center. Four of us had a chance to check out all the new items coming to market and some of the old favorites. Very excited to bring in some new grab and go items for snacking or having with friends.
There were some fun new cheeses and of course every sauce in the world. If you have never been to this event, it is worth checking it out if you are a foodie. Other than individually wrapped cheese slices, I think it was all there. Confections gallore, as well as cheeses, snacks, sauces, crackers, jams, teas, coffees, you name it.
In the end, walked away with some great new items.
Coming soon the Ranch Markets in Napa and Yountville are...
